EXCERPT

(From “Little Nani and the Flying Muffin”).
“I’m bored!”
“How can you say that you are bored when I am reading to you
one of the funniest books I have read in a long time?” said Horse
in an exasperated tone. When Little Nani shrugged her shoulders,
Horse had retreated to his favourite rocking chair in a corner of
the room.
“Can I go out and make angels?” asked Little Nani, who was upside
down, standing on her hands.
“Don’t be silly. You can only make angels in the snow, not in the
rain,” said Horse without raising his eyes from the book.
“Can I go out and jump in the pools?” asked Little Nani, who was
hopscotching all over the room.
“If you go out you will get soaking wet, and then you will catch a
bad cold, and then you won’t be able to go out for a long time,”
said the impatient horse. He didn’t like being interrupted while
reading.
“Then I will cast a spell to make the sun come back,” said Little
Nani, trying to take her magic wand out of her pocket while
rolling on the floor. Big Billy, watching her efforts to take her
magic wand out, and fearing that Little Nani could make the rain
turn into a tempest, quickly pecked Little Nani’s hand.
“Ouch!” exclaimed Little Nani. “That hurt!”
She tried once more to take her magic wand from her pocket, but
this time it was Skinny Nikki who pecked Little Nani’s hand.
“Ouch!” exclaimed Little Nani again.
It was pretty clear by now to Little Nani that she wasn’t going to
have any fun that day. She thought that the rain was boring and,

folding her arms with an angry look, she sat down in a corner

About the author

Cinta Garcia de la Rosa is a Spanish writer who has loved the written word since she discovered she was able to read books at age 5. Since then, she has become a bookworm and reads around 100 books every year. She also writes, every day, compulsively, even in the middle of the night. You cannot control when inspiration hits you, can you? She writes in English because she is convinced that in a previous life she was British, so writing in English feels more natural to her than writing in her native language. Yes, she is crazy like that. Cinta Garcia is the author of "The Funny Adventures of Little Nani", a collection of short stories for children, and "A Foreigner in London", a short story published on Smashwords.

Each year there are ancient dragon games to crown the winner of the Cup of Flames. The young dragons all show off their new found flame, hoping the cup will dawn their name.

The year of Zagonk is remembered above them all. It is forever whispered in dragon hall. It was because instead of a flame he honked at his dragon game. Not something a dragon was known to do but away his honk flew.

That was also the year the Frost Giant caused all the dragons fear. But what happens when Zagonk brings his honk near? Find out what took place at dragon hall by adding another book from Pat Hatt to your wall.

The video goes viral and suddenly, Lauren, Caylie, and Sabrina are celebrities at school. When a volunteer at the dog shelter sees the film, she assumes the dog belongs to the girls and calls them to come collect Phoo.

The girls arrange to take turns caring for Phoo until he can be adopted.

While sharing Phoo, Caylie, Sabrina and Lauren begin to notice that if the dog is around, lucky things seem to happen. The moment he’s gone…the luck disappears.
When they all need the dog’s magic at the same time, it’s up to the girls to decide once and for all: Is Phoo truly a lucky dog?

 Excerpt

Mrs. Salinas was ready to go. “So if you girls are sure you can’t take him any longer, I’ll just head on over to the van―” She took a few steps forward then turned back to the girls. “You’re sure you can’t foster him any longer?”
“I can’t,” Sabrina said, her voice tight and sad.
“Not me,” Lauren confirmed.
“I might be able to squeeze out another weekend,” Caylie said, “but we’d be back here on Monday.”
“Right,” Mrs. Salinas said. “And at least this way he has a chance of getting adopted in Fresno.”
She took a few more steps towards the van. The rain, to Lauren, seemed to be coming down harder. The drops blended in with her tears now. And looking at Caylie and Sabrina, Lauren couldn’t tell, but was pretty sure they were crying, too.
Mrs. Salina’s stopped one more time, just at the edge of the parking lot. “It was great having him,” she said. “Wasn’t it?”
“Yeah,” Lauren agreed. “Great.”
“We had fun,” Caylie said.
“Fun,” Sabrina repeated the word. “Yeah. We had a good time.”
Mrs. Salinas nodded. “I thought so.” She looked down at the dog, then back at the girls. “Tell me,” she said, her voice soft, drippy like the rain. “Weren’t things better when Phoo was around?”
The remark caught Lauren off-guard. What was Mrs. Salinas talking about?
“I think she’s right,” Lauren said, turning to Caylie and Sabrina. “Things have been going better than usual for me lately.”
“You don’t think he might have some kind of powers?” Sabrina looked over at Mrs. Salinas who was now at the van, loading Phoo inside.
“Well,” Caylie said, considering.
“I think maybe,” Lauren said tentatively. “I saw this show about luck and how―” Lauren stopped herself mid-sentence when she saw Mrs. Salinas push Phoo into an empty carrying cage. His voice joined the choir of barking dogs and was the loudest of them all.
In a sudden move, the girls rushed forward to stop the truck, shouting together, “Mrs. Salinas! Wait!”
